Earl Gordon Bailey

     Earl Gordon Bailey, 103 of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

     Earl was born on December 30, 1918 in Ledford to the late Frank and Clara (Jenkins) Bailey. On November 8, 2002, he married the former Dorotha Barnfield and she survives in Harrisburg. Earl served his country in the United States Air Force until his retirement. He later worked for the Civil Service. Earl loved gardening and was a wonderful Christian man. He was faithful member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.

     Earl is survived by his wife, Dorotha Bailey of Harrisburg; step children, Ted Howard and wife Patty of Benton, Illinois; Jim Howard and wife Becky of Benton, Illinois; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Donna Irwin of Harrisburg; Raymond Barger and wife Diane of Delwood, Illinois; Jack Barger and wife Vickie of Tunnel Hill, Illinois; Joan Jones and husband, Hillis of Illinois; Helen Baker and husband Vinson of Illinois; Ernestine Evetts of Simpson, Illinois; and Barbara Buffington of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

     Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters, Ernest Bailey, Cecil Bailey, Glendell Bailey, Mildred Needer, Mabel McGill, Alsie Bailey, and Ruby Barger.

     Funeral services for Earl Gordon Bailey will be held at 2 PM, Friday, September 16, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home, formerly Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Trent Duncan will officiate and burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Delwood. Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 2 PM, Friday, September 16, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to McKinley Avenue Baptist Church or Pleasant Ridge Cemetery and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
