Dr. Mark Evan Flannigan, DDS

   Dr. Mark Evan Flannigan, DDS, age 73, of Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at his residence.

     Mark was born on February 2, 1949, in Christopher, Illinois, to the late Evan and Betty (Swanson) Flannigan. On August 10, 1986, he wed the love of his life, Jane Chancey who preceded him in death on November 17, 2017.

     Mark completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University and then continued on to the University of Illinois in Chicago where he graduated with his doctorate degree in Dentistry. He was a dentist for forty-five years and always had the practice he started in 1977 on the square in Harrisburg. Mark loved his wife Jane dearly, and he also loved his patients and his community. He loved his grandchildren and never missed an event that they were involved in. Mark also loved “the girls” at his office like family. Mark was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church. 

     Mark is survived by his daughter, Christine Hankins and husband Brandon of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Ali, Aidan and Ashton Hankins of Harrisburg; sister, Cindy Furlow; and nephew, Sean Furlow and wife Amy.

     Memorial Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Masonic and Odd fellow’s cemetery in Benton, Illinois. Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Memorials may be made to Dorrisville Baptist Church and envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
