Donna Sue (Butterworth) Teal

     Donna Sue Teal, 83 of Harrisburg, passed away at 5:46 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Herrin Hospital surrounded by her family.

     Donna was born on January 9, 1939 in Harrisburg to the late Robert and Winnie (Gidcumb) Butterworth. She married Carl Gene Teal on March 27, 1957 and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1996. Donna’s love of care giving showed in her career choices. She started working at the A.L. Bowen Center. She later went back to school and earned her nursing degree.  She then worked out of Harrisburg Medical Center as a home health nurse, she also worked for Coleman Tri-County and the Golden Circle at Eldorado as their daytime nurse. She also deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she prayed for regularly. Donna accepted Jesus into her heart at an early age, and was baptized in Gidcumb Creek. Throughout her life, she served the Lord through teaching and various ministries at church. Up until health issues, Donna was a faithful member of Little Chapel Church. Donna was extremely creative, and was an excellent seamstress, crafter and cook. She loved bringing joy to others with her talents, and throughout her life, she selflessly served the Lord by giving to others. Donna loved to debate, and had a heart for the underdog. She also loved working with flowers. But one of her favorite things to do was spend time with her dog, Carmel.

     Donna is survived by three children, son, Gene Teal and wife Ruth of Marion; son, Roger Teal and wife Diana of West Frankfort; daughter, Stanli Rightnowar and husband Shawn of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Tonya Seed and husband Josh of Maryland; Erin Blue and husband Jacob of Marion; Josiah Teal and wife Lindsay of Herrin; Jeremiah Teal and fiancée Kassi Jones of West Frankfort; Alexa McClenahan and husband Joe of Hardin County; and Abby Rightnowar and Shay McClenahan of Hardin County; eleven great grandchildren, Alex, Addi, Blake, Millie, Colbie, Zaiden, Carver, Zaylor, Callen, E.J., and Jaidyn; brother, Bobby Butterworth and wife Pat of Harrisburg, and a niece and two nephews.

     In addition to her parents, and husband Carl, Donna was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Butterworth.

     A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Roger Teal will officiate and burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery.
