Donald Ray "Don" Sheldon

     Donald Ray “Don” Sheldon, age 84 of Harrisburg passed away at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on January 18, 1941 in Harrisburg to the late George William and Verbal (Estes) Sheldon. 

     Don was a heavy equipment operator who enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling many stories of a life well lived.  He was a member of Bankston Fork Church where he had many friends young and old.

    Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen Sheldon of Harrisburg, Illinois; son, Mark Alan Sheldon and wife Judy; daughter, Susan Dawn Allen all of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Heather Ashley Sides and husband Chris of Wynne, Arkansas; Alix Ely and husband Brian of Harrisburg; and Mark Alan Sheldon II of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren, Britin White and Bane Sides of Wynne, Arkansas.  He is also survived by three siblings, Mary Joyce Sheldon of Harrisburg, Georgia Mae Klemm and husband Ron of Golconda, Illinois; and James William “Bill” Sheldon of Newburgh, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by an infant sister, Shirley Ann Sheldon.

     Memorial services will be held for Donald Ray “Don” Sheldon at 11 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg.  Rev. Alan Monroe will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
