Delia Mae Jackson, age 86 of Harrisburg, passed away at 7:00 PM, Friday, February 6, 2026 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Delia was born on November 29, 1939 in Harrisburg to the late William and Pauline (Adams) Thompson. On August 26, 1960 she married Othner Jackson who preceded her in death on October 14, 2025. Delia attended Little Chapel Church on Sunday morning and Union Grove Baptist Church on Sunday night. She worked in Housekeeping/Laundry at Harrisburg Medical Center and at the Daily Register placing inserts in the papers. Delia enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and canning. She also enjoyed genealogy research. Delia was active in the church while she was growing up until her later years. She loved talking to people, which helped when organizing meals for bereaved families. She has been told that she “has a great smile”. Delia encouraged and supported her children in pursing their dreams.
Delia is survived by a daughter, Debbie Francis of Aiken, South Carolina; son, Stan Jackson of Harrisburg, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jenna Barton and husband Andrew of Lexington, South Carolina; Patrick Francis and wife Becca of Marietta, Georgia; Eric Jackson of Chicago, Illinois; and Erin Jackson of Carbondale, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Bronwyn and Jensen; brother, Walter Thompson of Wood River, Illinois; sister, Hazel Morten of Cottage Hills, Illinois; brother, Richard “Bud” Thompson and wife, Barbara of Galatia, Illinois; sister-in-law, Alice Thompson of Bethalto, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Othner, Delia was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Tom Hopkins; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Thompson; brother, Henry Thompson; sister-in-law, Teresa Thompson; brother-in-law, Joe Morten; and son-in-law, Bruce Francis.
Funeral services for Delia Mae Jackson will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Illinois. Rev. Steve Nyberg will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 2 PM, Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Chapel Church Benevolence Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
