David Ralph Banks, age 75 of Herod, passed away at 7:20 AM, Friday, July 29, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family.
David was born on March 8, 1947 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Ralph and Wilma Pauline (Drumm) Banks. David married Linda Shelton on January 17, 1970, and she survives.
David served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a carpenter, farmer and construction worker. David was a member of Herod Springs Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife, Linda Banks of Herod, Illinois; son David Bradley Banks and wife Loni Jo of Herod, Illinois; son, Brian Keith Banks and wife Michelle “Shelly” of Herod, Illinois; four grandchildren, Calen Bradley Banks, Raegan Kaegi Banks, Bryden Kale Banks and Bryce Kamden Banks; brother, Richard Banks of Phoenix, Arizona, and two special nieces, Lori Bradley and Kristin Wilson.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Leland Banks and Terry Banks.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home, formerly Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. David Smith and Rev. Tommy Dutton will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army, the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Hope Cemetery and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
