Dallas Estel Williams, age 87, of East Alton, passed away at 2:42 AM, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Liberty Village in Maryville, Illinois.
Dallas was born on July 21, 1936 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Wilmer "Sleepy" and Gladys (Conkle) Williams. On June 9, 1956 he married Phyllis Hicks and she survives. Dallas was proud to serve his country for 6 years in the United States Army. Dallas enjoyed his time at McDonald Douglas working on Sky Lab before becoming the Co-Owner of Trans-Supply Inc. where he spent many years in sales. He attended Bethel Free Will Baptist Church where he had many fond memories of coaching the men's fast pitch softball team. Dallas was very proud of his DJ days on the radio show broadcast "Joyful Noise" which ran for many years on WBGZ. He enjoyed southern gospel music and attended the national quartet convention every year with family and friends. He loved his family dearly but his grandchildren were his world. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and boating with them. Dallas enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his Heartland friends. He was a people person that never met a stranger. During the time he spent at Bethalto Hollybrook he enjoyed the many friends he made there. A special thanks to his niece Jessica Henke for your love and support.
In addition to his wife Phyllis, Dallas is survived by a daughter, Joni Hogan of East Alton, three grandchildren, Kyle, Kristen and Jered all of East Alton; sister, Barbara Vinyard and husband Richard of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Timothy Hogan.
Funeral services for Dallas E. Williams, will be held at 12 PM, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Ivan Ryan will officiate and burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army, American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Spring Valley Cemetery or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
