Curtis Alexander Obituary

On November 11, 2022, Veteran’s Day, Curtis Dixon Alexander finished his long run of 99 years and 5 months at his residence in St. Charles, Missouri following a brief illness.

Born June 13, 1923, in Harrisburg, IL, he was the son of Margie (Dixon) and Luther Alexander.

He graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1941.  Following his service in the Pacific theater with the U.S. Navy during WWII, he settled in Harrisburg.  There, he completed training as a Plumber / Pipe fitter (retired in 1986) and met & wed Jeanette (Rose) Alexander (1927-2010) on July 29, 1950, with whom he had two daughters:  Suzanne Alexander (1954-2017) and Jane Rose Tillman, who survives.

Curt took great pleasure in woodworking, traveling with his wife, fishing with his 3 brothers, watching Cardinal baseball or just spending time with his extensive family.  He was a long-time, active member of the First Church of God in Harrisburg, IL.

He will be reunited with his wife Jeanette, his eldest daughter Suzanne, both of his parents, all 3 of his brothers along with 2 of his brothers’ wives and his only sister and her husband – all who preceded him on the journey.

He is survived by his daughter Jane and her spouse Paul Tillman; two grandsons, David Tillman and his wife Lauren, with their children Nina and Austin, and Michael Tillman and his wife Danielle; and, his remaining sister-in-law Janette (Red) Alexander along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Harrisburg First Church of God and will be followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
