Cheryl Shultz Obituary

     Cheryl Lynn Shultz, age 68 of Harrisburg, Illinois peacefully passed away at 2:37 AM, Sunday, December 15, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.

     Cheryl was born on February 7, 1956 in Northlake, Illinois to the late Richard J. and Dorothy (Stefanovits) Dolderer.  She graduated from Barrington High School in 1974. Cheryl worked in retail sales and management from 1981 to 1989. She then returned to school and graduated from Southeastern Illinois College in 1991. She then married John Shultz on August 15, 1992. She continued her education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2003 where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She then worked as a Special Education Teacher for 14 years for Harrisburg Unit 3 School District. After her retirement, she taught at New Hope Christian Academy from the fall of 2018 to the spring of 2020. Cheryl continued tutoring and substitute teaching mainly for Harrisburg Unit 3 School District and she also was an Adjunct Instructor for 6 years teaching Mathematics for SIC.   Cheryl loved the Lord and was a member of Aldersgate Global Methodist Church in Marion where she sang in the church choir and played chimes in the chime choir. Cheryl loved cross-stitch and needle point. Cheryl was proud of her Chicago roots and was a devoted Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. She enjoyed hosting family dinners and was an excellent cook and baker. Cheryl also loved working jigsaw puzzles with her dear friends at the Harrisburg District Library.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

     In addition to her husband, John, Cheryl is survived by son, James Cirigliano and wife Susan of St. Charles, Illinois; daughter, Kathryn Swinford and husband Riley of Marion, Illinois; two grandchildren, Charlie Cirigliano of St. Charles, Illinois and Caroline Swinford of Marion, Illinois; sister, JoAnna Hosch of Harrisburg, Illinois; brother, Rick Dolderer and Denise of West Frankfort, Illinois; and brother, David Dolderer and wife Nicole of Buckner, Illinois; “faithful companions”, Finn and Henry; several nieces, nephews; and many cherished friends.

     A memorial service for Cheryl Lynn Shultz will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Aldersgate Global Methodist Church in Marion, Illinois. Rev. Gabe Wanck will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 11 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Aldersgate Global Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and envelopes will be available at the church
