Charles Buck Agin
Charles Buck Agin, born November 30, 1943, in Harrisburg, Illinois, was the second of 12 children born to Charles and Hazel (Feazel) Agin. On May 2, 1964, he married Janice Carlton, beginning a devoted and enduring partnership that spanned 60 years. Together, they built a loving and stable home for their four children.
Buck briefly worked at Olin Mathison Armory in Alton but felt a strong connection to Southern Illinois, prompting his return to Harrisburg. He became a familiar face in the community through his years at Durham's Lumber and later as a custodian at Harrisburg High School. His career there culminated in 2010 when he retired as Head Custodian, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and hard work.
Buck, a skilled carpenter, and handyman, had an innate ability to diagnose and repair small engines and automobiles. He passed these practical skills on to his children, instilling confidence in their problem-solving abilities. Known for his generosity, Buck was always willing to help friends and family in need, offering his time and talents.
Buck found joy in the outdoors, particularly in hunting. Whether deer hunting alone or coon hunting with his brother Bill and Uncle Fred Feazel, he cherished time spent in nature. Though a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes, and his family always knew they were his greatest treasure. Dependable and steadfast, Buck was a rock to those who knew him.
Buck is survived by his beloved wife, Janice, and his children: Monica (Paul) Russell of Eldorado, along with grandchildren Eric Russell and Sara (Logan) Boulds, and great-grandson Moxley; Trent (Kathy) Agin of Cape Girardeau, with grandchildren Ashley (Kara) Agin and great-granddaughter Averie of Labadie, MO, Anthony Agin of Ballwin, MO, and Matthew and Madison Agin of Cape Girardeau; John (Kim) Agin, with grandchildren Kelsey Agin of Galatia, Kyle Bruce of Eldorado, and Cody (Chelsea) Taylor with great-granddaughters Avery and Rilynn of Carrier Mills; and Mark (Robin) Agin, with grandchildren Josiah, Jeremiah, Judah, Micah Jo, Moriah, and Jaydon, all of Harrisburg.
