Charles James Russell

     Charles James Russell, 91 of Harrisburg, formerly of Lapeer, Michigan, passed away at 10:55 PM, Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.

     Charles was born on June 3, 1933, in Flint, Michigan to the late Lyle and Grace (Freeland) Russell. On June 26, 1954 he married the former Lucy Jane Burgess, and she preceded him in death on October 2, 2024. Charles was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer, Michigan. He loved southern gospel music, particularly the Gaither Vocal Band. Charles also enjoyed playing guitar, piano, harmonica and singing. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and travelling. Charles was described as happy go lucky. He loved life and a good joke.

     Charles is survived by four children, Ted Russell and wife Char of Mayville, Michigan; Jane Sechrest and husband John of Harrisburg; Ruth Poiles and husband, Mark of Los Lunas, New Mexico; and Sarah McKeone and husband Jon of Gainesville, Virginia; six grandchildren, Jordan, Ian, Caitlin, Katie, Jonathan, and Gary; two great grandchildren, Issac and Callan.

     In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy and a daughter, Diane Russell.

     A celebration of life will be held for Charles and his wife, Lucy at 11 AM, Thursday, April 10, 2025  at Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer Michigan.  Memorial contributions may be made to WMPC Radio at 1800 N. Lapeer Road, Lapeer, Michigan 48446.
