Carolyn Sue Miller

     Carolyn Sue Miller 78, of Harrisburg passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.     

     She is survived by the following children, son Charles “Ed” Miller of McHenry IL, son Thomas F. Miller and wife Kris of Harrisburg, daughter Jerri Lynn Miller-Dykshorn and husband Scott of Scottsdale AZ, and a bonus daughter Lisa Fulk and husband Jerrod “Gomer” of Harrisburg.   

    She was blessed to have 5 grandchildren, Dan, Ryan, Luke, Ali and Evan and 2 great grandchildren Rowan and Zailey plus her little dog Daisy.

   She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Jerry.  Parents Charles “Buck” and Helen (Barnfield) Roberts, sisters Helen Jean Roberts and Judith Rameriz.   

   Carolyn retired from Harrisburg Medical Center after 30 years of service, working before that at the cap factory for years.  During her retirement years she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, sewing, painting, writing, bible study, and so many other activities they all cannot be listed.  She was an inspiration to all on how to enjoy their retirement years.  She was a care giver by nature to her mother, husband, family friend Jack, and a very special uncle Dale “Buster” Barnfield who preceded her in death in 2020.  Carolyn was a friend to many and as one friend, Linda Harrawood, said her laugh was contagious.   

   A memorial service will be held at Gaskins City Missionary Baptist Church at 506 Water St, Harrisburg, IL 62946 where she found her church family.   Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2023.  The memorial service officiated by Mike Smith at 11 AM with a light meal served after.  A private graveside committal will be held at a later time.
