Calvin Christopher Osterkamp

     Calvin Christopher Osterkamp age 88, of Harrisburg passed away at 9:18 AM on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon Illinois.

    Calvin was born on September 8, 1934 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to the late Henry and Zemru (Cox) Osterkamp. He married Ruthalee Gilham on May 21, 1959 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2006. He later married Velma Summers in 2007 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2011. He then married Karen Bradley Stephenson on September 29, 2012 and she survives. Calvin served his country in the United States Army and he earned a Bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene College. Calvin was a Title 1 elementary teacher at Shawneetown Grade School; he loved and always remembered his students. Calvin served as a Deacon at Rudement Social Brethren Church where he was a very active member. He was generous in his support to missionary work in other countries.

   Calvin is survived by his wife, Karen Osterkamp of Harrisburg; son, Mark Alan Osterkamp and wife Michelle of Weatherford, Texas; son, Matthew Lee Osterkamp and wife Rebecca of Grimes, Iowa; daughter Susan Marie Caraker and husband Chad of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren, Zachary and William Osterkamp of Weatherford, Texas; Eric, Katelyn, and Angela Osterkamp of Grimes, Iowa; Jessica Marie and Caleb Thomas Caraker of Columbia, Missouri; sister, Yvonne Matlock and husband Lee of Michigan; brother, David Osterkamp and wife Karen of Michigan; sister, Martha Osterkamp of Michigan; brother, Paul Osterkamp and wife Genelle of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services for Calvin Christopher Osterkamp will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home, formerly Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM, Friday, September 23, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home.
