Brad Alan Farthing

    Brad Alan Farthing, age 49, of Harrisburg, passed away at 9:17 pm, Monday, August 12, 2019 at his residence in Harrisburg.

    Brad was born on April 14, 1970 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Gary Lee and Rosi (Reynolds) Farthing.  Brad served his country in the United States Air Force where he was a lab tech. After his military service, Brad worked as a lab tech for hospitals in Marion, Carbondale and most recently Cordova, Alaska.  Brad loved music and he played the french horn all through school. Since he moved back home, he had had so much fun enjoying his family.  He will be sadly missed by his family and the family dog, Dax.

     Brad is survived by his mother, Rosi Miller and Gary Stricklin of Harrisburg, Illinois; father, Gary Lee and Jemima Farthing of Carrier Mills, Illinois; brother, Chad Farthing and wife Carolyn of Plano, Illinois; four nephews, Jacob Farthing and wife Andria of Chaska, Minnesota; Jonathan Farthing of Abilene, Texas; Joshua Farthing of Abilene, Texas; and Brett Farthing and wife Stormie of Royalton, Illinois; aunt, Caron McFarland and husband Ray of Stockdale, Ohio; aunt, Judy Randolph of Carrier Mills; many cousins including, Ryan and Mandy McKercher of Rudement, Illinois; Jodi McFarland and Amy Medena of Stockdale, Ohio; and Mesha and C.J. Giddings of Hinesville, Georgia; and special friend, Cheryl Matic of Harrisburg.

     Brad was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Aleine Farthing; maternal grandparents, Mary and Herschel Spilmon and Ralph Reynolds; and an aunt, Myrt Reynolds Dixon.

     Memorial services for Brad Alan Farthing will be held at 7 PM, Friday, August 16, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. His uncle Ray McFarland will officiate and burial will follow at a later date in Pierson Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Air Force, and the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legions and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Friday, August 16, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions in Brad’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

    A graveside committal service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Pierson Cemetery near Harrisburg.
