Bertha Jane “Beth” Smith, age 69 of Carrier Mills, passed away at 9:50 PM, Monday, January 6, 2025 at her residence.
Beth was born on February 18, 1955 in Harrisburg to the late Troas and Hazel (Parker) Barger. She married Chester “Chet” Smith on January 3, 1973 and he survives. Beth was a homemaker and she attended Big Saline Church. Beth loved her family and she babysat for many different kids throughout the years. Beth also enjoyed riding horses with Chet.
In addition to her husband Chet, Beth is survived by, daughter; Dawn Marie Woolard of Carrier Mills; daughter, Taunya Kay Redwine and husband Lyndol of Clinton, Kentucky; son, Joseph Michael Smith and wife Kim of Harrisburg; son, Tommy Lee Smith of Carrier Mills; eleven grandchildren, Kiersten Modglin and husband Michael of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Kaitlin Langford and husband Nathan of Carrier Mills; Kortnee Woolard of Fulgham, Kentucky; Kyleigh Woolard of Carrier Mills; Tierra Mayer and husband Drew of Fulgham, Kentucky; Amber Grotberg and husband Jason of Harrisburg; Austin Redwine and wife Savannah of Clinton, Kentucky; Aidan Smith of Marion, Kentucky; Cheyenne Smith of Rosiclare; Alexis Smith of Harrisburg; and Mackenzie Smith of Harrisburg; twenty great grandchildren; sister, Janice Oldham and husband Mike of Harrisburg; sister, Velma Stockdale and husband Tommy of Vienna; sister, Jeannie Carriker of Lapeer, Michigan; sister, Betty Irvin and husband Terry of Carmi; and sister, Judy Pike of Harrisburg; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded by a sister, Marilyn Reed; brother, Alvin Barger; brother, Troas Barger. Jr.; and brother, Glendale Barger.
Memorial services for Bertha Jane “Beth” Smith will be held at a later date.
