Barbara Ann (White) Van Meter

    Barbara Ann Van Meter, age 80, of Harrisburg, Illinois journeyed peacefully home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

     She was born Barbara White in Vermillion, IL, in February of 1942.

After graduating High School, she moved throughout Illinois staying close with family and eventually becoming a wife and mother. She spent many years in Southern Illinois, but her passion was travel, leading her to reside in other locations and states such as New Brunswick, GA; Savannah, GA; and Charleston, IL. Whether family of friend, she would enjoy many a conversation about Jesus. Barbara was a faithful servant of the Lord, and stayed active in several worship groups throughout her lifetime. An avid reader, you could find her always enveloped in a story. Her examples of faithfulness and consideration for others heralded her as a respected matriarch of our family. She leaves behind the following family to meet later in Heaven: her Son Daniel Simon, Granddaughter Brittany Watson, and Great-granddaughter Preslie Dardeen, siblings Jim and Mary White & Tom and Gail White, and a collective of sweet Nieces, Nephews and cousins she loved ever so dearly. She will be greeted in passing by her Mom and Dad, Bonnie and James White and siblings Helen Jane Matthews & Alice and Don White. Words cannot express the feelings of our loss and we will forever cherish the time we spent with Barbara, Mom, Grammy, GG.
